Job Purpose:

The Senior Developer/ Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, low-latency applications that support the firm’s real-time energy trading strategies and decision-making systems. This role plays a key part in delivering competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop efficient, reliable, and reusable C++ code for low-latency systems supporting energy market operations, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
   
   
2. Collaborate with energy traders, researchers, and other engineers to create and enhance high-performance market strategies, forecasting models, and real-time trading algorithms.
   
   
3. Implement performance and quality modules to ensure optimal system performance and reliability, and identify and resolve bottlenecks in energy data processing pipelines.
   
   
4. Perform diagnostic tests, debugging, and troubleshooting to resolve software and hardware compatibility issues in energy trading and data acquisition systems.
   
   
5. Document processes and maintain software development records, ensuring knowledge transfer and continuity across energy technology initiatives.
   
   
6. Stay up-to-date with the latest C++ standards, best practices, and advancements in low-latency and real-time systems within the energy sector, and share knowledge with the team.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  
  
• Preferred at least 5 years of experience as a C++ Software Engineer, with a strong focus on low-latency systems, ideally in trading or real-time data environments.
  
  
• Proficient in object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  
  
• Hands-on experience with multithreaded programming, concurrency, and lock-free data structures.
  
  
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and agile methodologies.
  
  
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  
  
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet tight deadlines, particularly in time-sensitive energy trading or grid operations.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quantitative Analyst to join our team in the energy sector. The successful candidate will apply advanced quantitative techniques, financial modeling expertise, and programming skills to develop and validate models, analyse complex energy market datasets, and provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making. This role offers exposure to high-impact projects across energy risk management, pricing models, and data analytics in real-time and forward energy markets.

‍Key Responsibilities

Quantitative Modeling and Analysis:

• Develop and maintain advanced mathematical and statistical models for pricing, risk assessment, and operational decision-making in energy trading and market forecasting.
  
  
• Apply techniques such as Monte Carlo simulations, stochastic processes, and machine learning to analyse energy production, consumption, and market price data.
  
  
• Validate existing models and implement alternative methodologies to address model risks related to volatility, generation forecasting, and market behavior.
  
  

Risk Management:

• Conduct in-depth risk evaluations related to power, gas, and renewable energy portfolios, ensuring alignment with regulatory guidelines and energy market rules.

Data Analytics:

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams including traders, energy analysts, engineers, and external stakeholders in utilities and markets.
  
  
• Present complex findings in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences, including operations and executive leadership.
  
  

Leadership and Mentoring:

• Mentor junior analysts by providing training materials and guidance on energy market modeling and quantitative tools.

Qualifications

Education:

• Preferred Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or Energy Systems).
  
  

Experience:

• Preferred 6–10+ years of experience in quantitative analysis, model development/validation, or related fields.
  
  
• Preferred experience in energy trading, utilities, energy consulting, or commodities markets is highly preferred.
  
  

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or C++.
  
  
• Strong knowledge of statistical methods, time series analysis, optimisation techniques, and machine learning.
  
  
• Familiarity with energy-specific pricing models, volatility modeling, or dispatch/forecasting algorithms is a plus.

• Proven track record of launching successful, innovative products—ideally within the energy, utilities, or clean tech sectors.
  
  

Technical Skills:

• Strong familiarity with product management tools (e.g., JIRA, ProductBoard).
  
  
• Understanding of software development processes, APIs, data platforms, and Agile methodologies within energy environments.
